Summer in Manila with Blog4Reviews folks

May 26, 2010 - Wednesday: Clado and I were scheduled for flight PR844 at 0635 hours. We met at Jolibee, Highway, Mandaue around 0400 and headed to Mactan International Airport. We waited couple of hours till we left Cebu via PAL and arrived at Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport, Terminal 2: Centennial Terminal around 0750 hours. We met Ms. Janette at Le bistro, Bay 20, with her were the 2 bloggers from Ilo-ilo: Mary Jane and Babsy. After a short introduction, the four of us went first to Jupiter Suites, left our things and waited for Cathy reps of Geiser Maclang to fetch us. When she arrived, she was with the 2 bloggers from Davao April and Keivin. After a short while, we left Jupiter Suites and headed to DOLE Office, Intramuros, Manila for the launching of the contest: "The Search for the Toughest Jobs in the Philippines".

A total of 8 bloggers from Cebu, Ilo-ilo, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao were invited by Ms. Janette Toral of Blogs4Reviews and Geiser Maclang for this event launching.

An overview: The Search for the Toughest Jobs in the Philippines

This contest was launched through the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) teamed up with Manny Pacquiao and Alaxan FR pain killer. This is open to all working Filipinos both local and overseas (OFW). To join, participant must register at the main website www.toughjobsphilippines.com , upload a picture and explain why he or his nominee has the toughest job.

Moving on, the presscon started around 11AM and ended past 12 noon. We met the CDO bloggers Mommy Dharlz and Pheibz at the venue. We left DOLE office around 1pm, (if I'm not mistaken) and headed back to Jupiter Suites where we took some rests and power naps.

Glorieta: Takoyaki/White Hat/Dashboard Confessionals

(L-R) Keivin, Clado, April, me)

Around 3PM we (Mommy Dharz, Pheibz, Keivin, April, and Clado) went to Glorieta. Keivin went to SM, while Mommy Dharz and Pheibz shopped together. And we (Clado, me and April) stroll the place back in fort and we got hungry. So we went to the Foodcourt area and ate Takoyaki at Mura-mura. After which, we stroll again and met Keiven. While standing near the activity center, April wanted to try White Hat, so went there and tried it. It was yummy ^_^. No regrets.
Then we went nearer to the activity center to see the Dashboard Confessionals, unfortunately, when we came back to the area, bunch of people were already there. We can't really see the Dashboards clearly.

How we took the photos? We rode the escalator going up and took a series of shots. It's kinda frustrating though, but what can we do? We're just ordinary fans. pffffft.. Furthermore, just before the van returned to fetch us back to Jupiter Suites, we took some shots at Glorieta 4.

Hard Rock Cafe: Dinner/Bands/Chill

Around 7PM, we went to Hard Rock Cafe Makati. It was my first time there and I really like it there - the place is really really cool! Moving on, we took some photos inside the place, and did a lil bit of camwhoring and we had our snacks/dinner at the place.

(with April)

Furthermore, Dashboard Confessionals, was there too with body guards and again, PHOTO FAIL! Body guards won't allow us to take photos or even talk to them. Well, we can understand that, but what was frustrating, was the way one of the body guard reacted when April was about to asked the Dashboard. Newies, let's just forget about it.

The party has to move on! Everyone there really enjoyed it a lot. We left the place around 11PM.

Day 2: Ocean Park / Krispy Kreme
We went to Manila Ocean Park very early and end up waiting for almost 2 hours before it opened. But it's worth waiting. Btw, Manila Ocean Park is the Philippines’ first state-of-the-art Oceanarium, open water marine habitat, boutique mall, restaurant row and function facilities all located in one complex at the back of the Quirino Grandstand.

When we were inside, we bought tickets and explore the wonder of Oceanarium - where we saw lots of different marine species. That was a nice, but quick tour. After which, the girls were having a fish spa. It was already past 11AM when we left Ocean Park, (we're a bit late of our schedule). We headed straight to Jupiter suites and checked out, ready to fly back home.

(the bloggers and miss cathy)

Before we went to the airport, we had a quick, (no not really quick) stop at Krispy Kreme - Ayala Avenue branch. The rest of us were given the chance to make our own doughnuts, but Clado and I, just decided to take photos instead (hahaha). After we, I mean them made their own doughnuts, we ordered drinks and I ordered "Lotta Latte" - it was uber yummy! Lovin' it.

Because of so much fun, we almost forgot the time, Clado and I were scheduled for flight PR849 at 1500 hours, while the rest had their flight by 1600 hours. It was almost 2PM when we left the place. We need to hustle up and double our time to catch the plain. We waited the van in few minutes, and it seemed like we really ran out of time. The van I believed was caught in the traffic somewhere in Makati. So Ms. Janette, accompanied us to the airport via a cab. And because we're in a hurry, I failed to say goodbye to everyone properly.

On our way to the airport, we realized that we had our things inside the van, except for our cameras. Good enough, we brought our tickets with us. But we had one problem though, Clado didn't have his ID with him, it's in his bag. When we arrived at the airport, as suggested by te Janette, I directly spoke to the supervisor and asked if we could both check in w/ just one ID, luckily she allowed us. It was 20 minutes before the plain leaves the airport. Thanks God, we're able to check in and went home safely.

Lessons learned: always bring your ID.

While on board, I still had this hang over thing - I mean a feeling of not wanting to leave the place, or maybe because I know at some point I will miss the things we shared, those moments and everything but I guess that really is normal. Thanks to my Nikon D3000 - somehow it helps freezing those moments, those crazy and funny tricks of time. We arrived at the Mactan Airport around 1630 hours.

Before I end this post, I would like to thank again Ms. Janette Toral of
Blog4Reviews and Geiser Maclang Marketing Communications Inc. for inviting us and for that great opportunity. It was indeed an experience for everyone. Memorable and unforgettable. Cheers to everybody! Cheers to my new blogger friends - it was nice meeting you back there! Until then.
