Farm Tour at Cantipla: Kumprahan sa Merkado

July 10 Satuday - together with the tri-media, we had a tour at the farm located at Cantipla, Cebu City.Some people call it the little Baguio of Cebu City. I couldn't agree more - the place is cool even if it's already noon, fresh air and relaxing place away from home. Abundant in vegetables and crops. Anyhow, the farm tour is basically in relation to the Kumprahan Supermerkado.

"Kumprahan Supermerkado" is a community market that aims to cut the middlemen. It plays a big role in helping our local producers and at the same time creating a self sustaining communities that will serve our collective needs. Further, it adopts an open-door policy for local producers who want to sell their goods directly to consumers minus the hassles of negotiating with middlemen.

Behind the Kumprahan Supermerkado are stakeholders consist of local vegetable and rice farmers, backyard hog-raisers, fish vendor associations, poultry raisers and small medium sized enterprise (SMEs).

Kumprahan Supermerkado as I see it, is a win-win process, where in consumers and the farmers can benefit with each other.
